Broken

Broken wings and broken spirit.
Her eyes on the stars, his heart in stone.
One will love it, one will fear it,
But both souls meet ends alone.

Broken trust, broken faith.
One to rise, and one to fall.
He sees the signs, and runs away,
Only to slam into the Wall.

Desperation, deep and rooted,
Clawing for air in a dismal tomb.
Life forgotten, remembrance lost,
Pain afflicted from the womb.

Scars not healing, eyes still blind,
Denying what stands before the light.
Lying to himself, he makes a sham,
And struggles on with a futile fight.

Break the daemons, break the cycle,
Break the chains that bind.
Break all holds, all ties that choke,
And leave the past behind.

A new one born, many years past,
He still struggles to survive.
He prays, weeps, and teeth are gnashed.
He wonders why he's still alive.

Business unfinished, but half-forgotten,
He stands deep behind a wall of honor.
Will he break? Will he bend?
Will faith make him a goner?

The storms still rumble in the night,
And lightning rides upon the gale.
Duty heavy, but still unyielding,
He refuses to fall, refuses to fail.
Just a poem.
